Clarke, Sir Alured
(1745-1832)
   Lieutenant-governor of Lower Canada, 1790-1795. Had been governor of Jamaica before coming to Canada; and after leaving the country, filled several high offices in India, finally becoming governor-general. Returned to England, 1802, and made field-marshal, 1830.
